Albert H. Lavender Sr., age 84 of Model City, died Tuesday April 4, 2017 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary June (Luskin) Lavender whom he married on July 3, 1955. Albert was born November 24, 1932 in Holley, NY, the son of the late Lester and Ellen (Jeffery) Lavender and has been a resident of Model City since 1947. He served in the 3rd Armored Calvary during the Korean War with time spent in Germany. Albert was employed as a Millwright at Wendt's Dairy for 23 years retiring in 1995. He had also worked at International Multifoods for 13 years. Al was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many summers at Lake Chautauqua. He loved riding his 4-wheelers, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the NRA, the Niagara River Anglers Association, the Good Sam Club, the FMCA Motor Coach Association, and the Fingerlakers & PEN-NY Mixer Chapters. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Leslie A. (Matthew) Buczkowski of Newfane, Yvette (the late Grant) Marin of North Tonawanda, and Albert H. (Michele) Lavender, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; a sister, Fern Miller; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; He was predeceased by a daughter, Vanda L. (late Joseph) Specyal. A Memorial Service followed by Military Honors will be held in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, April 8, at 11:00 am. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to a Charity of one's choice.
