Obituary of Ralph J, Engstrom

Ralph J Engstrom, 98, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 17, 2021. Ralph was born in Buffalo, NY in 1922. He grew up in Niagara Falls and was very active in the Boy Scouts in his early years until he entered the Air Force in 1943. He became a pilot during World War II and was a proud veteran. Ralph returned to live in Niagara Falls, NY and was active in the community as the owner of Baker Optical (1978-1994) and Baker Trophies (1978 -2006). He held a one-year term as President of the Kiwanis Club of LaSalle and President of the LaSalle Business & Professional Association. Ralph enjoyed his life and family along with many hobbies including flying, boating, scuba diving, skiing, golfing and bowling. Ralph is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy E Engstrom, his daughter Melody Engstrom Napierala, 3 stepchildren Victor Ketch (Sharon), Mark Ketch (Beth), Debra Sexton (Jeffrey), 4 grandchildren, Renae Engstrom Purchase (Tom), Randall Engstrom, Cassandra Sexton, Jessica Sexton and 2 step-grandchildren, Justin Napierala and Kayla Napierala. Ralph is preceded in death by his mother, Anne Sullivan, his son Dr. Robert J Engstrom (survived by wife Nancy Engstrom), his boarded parents Ernest and Linda Reynolds and their children Mable Ferguson (Merle) and Forrest Reynolds (Rebecca).
