How does a person say goodbye to a friend, a mentor? I started in danes 18 years ago and I reached out for help and advice from local breeders. I have been blessed that Steve was in my area and was one of the first I contacted. Steve was very kind to me. He taught me so much about pedigrees and health testing etc.
I got my first Champion Sasdania-vitag's Clarice at Sundown from Steve and David. She was my foundation in fawns and produced several Champions! We became fast friends. I loved him dearly and will miss him forever!

Thank you for your kindness, your invaluable mentorship, buckets of coffee and your hilarious pranks. Your passion for your dogs, dedication to the breed and the depth of your knowledge was inspirational. Those were the days, my friend.

A beautiful person. If you measure a man by how he treats his animals, Steve cared for them and put them first. Always above his own needs. Always. He will be forever missed

You will be missed Steve, but your memory will live on thru your dogs and all their relatives out there. You contributed a lot to the Dane breed.

I always admired The Great Dane, and always said I would get one. When it was time someone referred me to Steve. I remember calling him and he was asking me a lot of questions (like a good breeder does)when he learned of my last name, he laughed and said "I use to babysit your husband"! I was blown away! What a small world. Needless to say I did get my first Great Dane puppy from Steve. We became friends and I helped him with his dogs for a few years which drew our friendship closer. I'll never forget the funny conversations, or just sitting for coffee and talking. I will miss that very much. Rest In Peace Steve. You are with all your beloved dogs that passed.

One of the highlights of my day for so many years now, was spotting your mailbox, pulling into your driveway in my FedEx truck and waiting to see how many huge heads would pop up over your fence. Those thundering welcoming barks would always be followed by your friendly face at the door, telling me all about what it was that I was delivering. Very few people can ever feel or comprehend the power of the love between a man and his dog...Thank you for sharing that. I was blessed to have known you. Happy Trails Steve.

Steve was for many years a member of the AGDF and a frequent, and frequently successful, exhibitor at our summer Specialties. We remember him as a cheerful competitor, who brought several of his co-owners to our shows, and was helpful to us whenever we visited New York state. He has passed much too young.

The memories came flooding back when I heard that you were gone. You have passed on a legacy with your Sasdania Great Danes, and with all of those that you mentored and took the time to help along the way.
I will miss all of the long talks, the meals, the shows, the laughs, and most of all that smile, and the big hug every time that I saw you. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again

I was Steve's neighbor for 6 months. I didn't get the chance to really get acquainted, but we chatted occasionally. I have a Newf, and every morning one or two of his beautiful Danes would come to the fence and greet/bark at us. Rest in peace, Steve- I'm so sorry I didn't get the chance to know you better. You left us a couple weeks after I moved to town. I will always remember your beautiful dogs, and I wish I could have been of help.
