Obituary of Lois Grauerholz

Lois Grauerholz, age 86 of Lewiston, died Monday March 24, 2014 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness.
Lois was born March 1, 1928 in Vona, CO, the daughter of the late Earl and Adirene (Seaman) Henry. A lifelong educator, Lois received her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching and her Master's Degree in Botany from the University of North Colorado. She had taught school in Colorado and Wisconsin before moving here in 1970. Lois received her Master's Degree in Reading from the University of Buffalo and was a Reading Teacher for the Niagara Falls School District from 1971 to her retirement in 1991. While at the Niagara Street School she was affectionately known as the "Dairy Queen"
Lois was a member of the United Baptist Christian Church in Lewiston, the St. Francis Guild at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital volunteering at the Gift Shop, and the Niagara Women's Club. Lois and her husband also volunteered at the Center of Renewal at Stella Niagara. She loved her pet cats and playing bridge.
She is survived by her husband, Norman L. Grauerholz whom she married September 3, 1955; her daughters, Margaret M. Grauerholz of Batavia, NY, Sheila K. (John) Beers of Clarksville, TN, and Sharon R. (Bruce) Campbell of Greenbrier, TN; two sisters, Alma (Ron) Hutton of Burlington, CO and Norma (Robert) Pickerill of Centennial, CO. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Roy Henry.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 28, at 11:00 AM in the United Baptist Christian Church, 4800 Creek Rd., Lewiston, with the Rev. Bette Bond officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
